Theme - High Level

Level I: Sticking to the Basics

In its most basic form – this theme is about the definition of Christianity and what does it mean in 2011, i.e. for “our generation” as youth and young adults.

To be a Christian is to be a follower of Christ, one who has accepted Jesus as their lord and is living to become “Christ Like.” In term of activities, mark 12 v 28 – 33 helps us understand that we need to love god/jesus and love our neighbours as primary activities of Christianity.

What makes Christianity in our generation so challenging is that there are SO many distractions.

Our lives are filled with school, work, family, friends, TV, movies, Internet and social media and the list goes on. It seems impossible to be able to spend time on a regular basis with respect to the things of God.

However, there are timeless truths that are contained in our bible and the word of God. Those truths are just as meaningful and real in 2011 as they were in 1970, 1855 or even 25 A.D.

As young Christians and young adults, we need to get past the distractions so that we can learn about the timeless truths and make them real in our lives. If we are successful, and apply the principals, then we will reach our full potential in Christ and we will be rewarded with eternal life. If we are not successful in getting past the distractions to learn and live the timeless truths, then we will not achieve our full potential in Christ and we will not have our names written in the book of life to ensure that we will live in eternity.
