Subject: Blog #5
Hi Champions,
Technically is it another day but I will make every attempt to write another Blog later today:
I wanted to touch on the topic of the will of God:
The first thing to know is that God's will is always perfect and right. It is critical to understand this as it will be extremely relevant to some confusing scriptures that we may come across from time to time: For example... when you read the old testament God asks the army of Israel to go to a city and kill everyone including children. Now think of that for a moment and try to make sense of that in terms of the way things are today. He just does not seem right - a command to kill those we consider to be innocent helpless children. However, the statement will remain true, i.e. God is perfect and cannot do evil. So even though an action appears severe and even cruel or callous, God is good and perfect. Ps. 80 v 30
Now to attribute this title of ultimate goodness to God means that we must first seek to understand the nature of God. When we speak of the nature of a person or thing, we are speaking of the central thing that defines that person or thing, what is at their core. For example we use the term "human nature" - the sum of intimate properties and powers that one thing or person has that differs from another. We we are referring to the things that makes us human and that would distinguish us from lets say an animal.
The idea of God being perfect means that from him proceeds all ultimate truth. That means that regardless of how things may appear God is right. Now that we have set the precedence, we can discuss the idea of God's will. If God is perfect and cannot do evil then everything that comes from his will is perfect! That is why you will hear the scriptures often refer to the perfect will of God.
Later today I will speak about the implication of God's perfect will on mankind. What does that mean in terms of relationship with God?, trust?, faith? etc.
