Hi Champions:

I trust that your day was a fruitful one and that you are able to practice some of the key activities that we have laid out in the expectations guidelines.

Furthermore, I am confident that we are all looking forward to our first face to face session on September 9th @ 7:00pm sharp.

Today, I wish to encourage you on the subject of “Vows” Specifically, what are vows and why are they important and effective.  I would like to also cite some examples of people who have made vows to the Lord and what the benefits were to them.

Firstly:  What is a vow, a vow is simply a promise to do something:  The power of an oath is the idea of commitment that invokes a certain level of feeling in the person that it is being made to.  It also acts as mental solidifier for the person who makes the oath. It forces them to remain firm on their commitment when they are feeling vulnerable.

Secondly; we must never be afraid to vow to the Lord.  God is more understanding than humans so if we can commitment to humans why would we be afraid to commit to God. What makes a person afraid of commitment and what makes then not afraid?

We only fear making commitments when we are not sure if we or the person that is making the commitment can keep it; is that not true? Yes it is!  So here is what we know, God cannot lie nor can God break covenant; so it is obvious that we are afraid of our own inability to keep our oath.  However; John the Apostle describes it like this “Perfect (Mature) love throws out all thought of being afraid) Paul further states that “Fear has torment” If you love God you can completely offer your vows and God has the power to help you keep them.

Finally for today, when one makes a vow they do it in confidence of the fact that the other party will do their best to help them keep their vow:  God does that for us, He helps us keep that which we have committed to Him.  So this leads me to chat about what is the benefit of a vow as it relates to God and man.  Well, the central benefit is this: One aspect of the nature of God is that He loves agreements, oneness.  Notice that God initiates covenants and keeps them to a thousand generations.  This means that when you make a covenant with God you are entering the realm of the nature of God, just like how one of the aspects of the nature of God is love: When we love God, God is happy because we are demonstrating an aspect of his image which was the first state of man: Made in the image of God.   When we reflect His image we make him pleased and when God is pleased He blesses.

In conclusion, your blessing is in your vow: God is about to shower down spiritual, physical and financial blessings upon those that enter into and keep their vows with Him.  That is why he says when you vow to the Lord; do your best not differ to pay as I have made arrangements for your payments as well.
